The Paul Harris Fellow recognition was created in memory of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary as a way to show appreciation for contributions to the Foundation's charitable and educational program. A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who contributes $1,000 or in whose name that amount is contributed. Every Paul Harris Fellow receives a pin, medallion and a certificate when he or she becomes a Fellow. This identifies the Paul Harris Fellow as an advocate of the Foundation's goals of world peace and international understanding.
Over the years, the Paul Harris Fellowship has been used by Rotarians as an award to recognize outstanding club members for their commitment to service above self. This is the way in which the Rotaract Club of Mississauga intends to use the Fellowship.
How are recipients of the award selected?
Since the club is contributing a significant amount of money in an individual’s name, the Paul Harris Award is Rotary International’s highest honour conferred to the most deserving. The prestige of the award necessitates a rigorous selection process that is relatively constant from year to year. The detailed nomination guidelines, selection criteria and the nomination form can be found below:
Rotaract Mississauga encourages its members to recognize the importance of this award and thereby refrain from nominating friends unless they truly deserve the honour. Members are welcome to re-nominate an individual the following year if their nominee is unsuccessful.
Please address nominations to the Rotaract Mississauga Paul Harris Committee. Comments, questions or concerns should be sent to madiha.fkhan@gmail.com.
